The Snowshoe Creek Cemetery is located at the junction of Snowshoe and Little Snowshoe Creek.
Several years ago, the area around this pioneer cemetery was (clear cut) logged. The logging contractor left about an acre of coniferous trees growing around the cemetery site. In July 1987, the logging contractor (J.B.) tried burning the slash in the surrounding clearcut. This slash fire got away, and totally destroyed this formerly picturesque pioneer site. All crosses, plot fences, etc...were destroyed.
Last August (1989), four new white crosses (mounted in concrete, on steel pipe stands made by Clint Coleman), were erected by Lionel Guiltner, Marty McClusky and Dave Falconer. Wood for all 4 crosses was milled and donated by Karly Welti. In addition, Lionel Guiltner---with his own chainsaw---cut down a number of dead, charred coniferous trees in the cemetery. Many more remain to be cut down, and removed.
Neither the logging contractor (J.B.) nor the B.C. Forest Service has made any effort, to date, to help rehabilitate this pioneer cemetery.
